9-Week Youth Summer Empowerment Program (YSEP): June 24 – August 20, 2020
Our hybrid program offers socioeconomically disadvantaged middle school and high school youth an experience and learning opportunities, both virtually and in-person, covering such topics as Social-Emotional Development, Health and Well-being, Social Justice, College and Career and more. Courses are virtually interactive, engaging, and challenging, allowing students to explore new areas of study as well as build on their school coursework in the areas of Math, English and Work Habits. Youth will also engage in weekly field trips, recreational activities, and possible community volunteer opportunities. Youth will be able to:
Review Math or English courses in a variety of grade levels.
Benefit from academic instruction and support from college ambassadors and college advisors.
Participate both in college tours, field trips, team building activities and community volunteer opportunities both virtually and in-person.
Our LRO staff will provide an interactive and academically rigorous program. We are committed to providing our students with a dynamic academic hybrid experience. Youth will be in classes based on grade level/age and academic needs.
Daily Schedule & Activities
Daily Schedule Monday–Thursday 9:30am- 3:30pm
Classes meet daily Monday through Thursday. Daily schedules will include morning and afternoon, in-person or virtual, class sessions (Pacific Time) and will allow for independent and/or group work. On Site/In-person classes will be held on Tuesday & Thursday, at the West Los Angeles FamilySource Center location. Course description can be find here.
